Because I would like the Superman bag, the Green Lantern gloves, and the Wonder Woman dress and headband.

Wizard World Philly 2010!

June 2, 2010

Well, next Saturday, June 12th, I will be down at Wizard World Philly. I had initially gone to get William Shatner’s autograph for my dad as a Fathers Day gift, but he canceled. Instead, Patrick Stewart will be there. Now as a a child I grew up with The Next Generation, and Captain Picard was (and is) my favorite captain. Patrick Stewart himself is a bad ass motherfucker. Seriously, look at this bad ass motherfucker talk about the letter ‘B’:

THAT SHIT IS AMAZING.

Also, Bruce Campbell will be there. And he is a pretty sexy guy, or at least he was. I mean he’s still cute but you know.

Collectors Corner Comic Shop

June 1, 2010

In Baltimore there is a rather large comic shop known as Collectors Corner. Overall, it is a nice shop, with a lot of modern comics, as well as DVD’s, graphic novels, a room to play card games, and another room with a large selection of back issues. I noticed however that most of the back issues range from 1980-2000. While that isn’t a bad thing, as we all know I don’t collect those specific comics. They do have one case filled with SA Marvel books, but again, I’m a DC.

I enjoy visiting this shop. Julie and I stopped by on Free Comic Book Day, and I’ll swing by whenever they have a sale (like they did this weekend). The staff is friendly and eager to talk to customers, something a lot of shops don’t do. I urge you all to check this place out whenever you find yourself in Baltimore!

Convention tips for first timers.

May 28, 2010

Con season is around the corner, which means there will be a whole slew of con virgins! If this would apply to you, please keep reading. If you have been to more than one con, I suggest you keep reading too. You might learn something.

1- Shower. Please, for the love of God, use proper hygiene at a con. In honesty this should be common sense and should be practiced daily in real life, but sometimes that just doesn’t happen. If you want to impress your fellow con goers, please shower, wear deodorant, and try to look like a decent enough human being. I don’t care if you wear a Flash shirt and jeans. Just smell decent.

2- Eat. Yea, you read that. Some people try to pull all day/nighters at various cons. I’ve noticed this is mostly a trend at anime cons (because kids are silly), but again, eat three meals a day. A bottle of Coke, chips, and a candy bar is NOT  meal. Nor is it good for you. Getting away from the con for an hour and refueling will do wonders for you.

3- Sleep. Get at least 6 hours a night, and try to not get more than 8. Usually you’ll be well rested. Again, pulling all nighters is never a good idea, even in college.

4- Bring cash. While most dealers accept credit cards, cash is pretty much the safest bet. It’s up to you how much to bring.

5- Bring a sketchbook! I like keeping sketches I get from artists handy in books.

6- Wear comfortable shoes. You will be doing a lot of walking, and moving, and the floors of most con centers are not comfy. Even in hotels!

7- I highly suggest not looking for love at conventions. Con hookups generally fail, but every so often do work. Meeting people is dandy, but trying to find the one might let you down. Just let love happen, don’t rush into it over the course of a weekend.

There really is so much more I could suggest, but really those seem like a good outline. What do you guys think?

BATMAN IS PLAYING KEN IN TOY STORY 3.

May 27, 2010

That’s right. Michael Keaton is playing Ken in Toy Story 3! I know this is kind of old news, but it still tickles my funny bone. Plus I love me some Michael Keaton, and I love Toy Story.

Also, there is an awesome rumor that Green Lantern might get his own show on Cartoon Network! That would be fabulous!

Birds of Prey #1

May 24, 2010

I picked up the Birds of Prey #1 because the art was pretty. I am not familiar with BOP in any other way, to be honest. While it is a good first issue, I feel like you need to have a back ground or prior knowledge about BOP before reading. For example, I had no idea Lady Blackhawk was in the team. This story really tries to be an introduction, but it was kind of lost on me in some parts.

However, the story is shaping up to be really good. I’ll keep reading for a few more issues, just to feel it out.

The new Flash series is really enjoyable. I was not a Flash fan prior, but this series has been a fun read so far, with some pretty funny bits.

Oh, and apparently Bruce Wayne is traveling through time or some shit. Julie talked about it a little bit ago on here, and yes, so far, really good.

Aquaman, a crappy zombie.

May 23, 2010

If you have not been following Blackest Night/Brightest Day, this will have spoilers.

So in Blackest Night, the worst super hero ever–Aquaman–is a Black Lantern, because he is dead. He was a really shitty Black Lantern. His wife (who is a bad ass) beat him up all of the time. Well, long story short, someone thought it was a good idea to bring him back. It was never a good idea to bring him back. The best idea DC has had in the past decade was killing him off. The worst idea was bringing him back. HE SUCKS. He talks to fish. Now he talks to dead fish. And while that might seem like a cool idea (it is) Aquaman is just not good. His wife can control water, and she’s pretty strong. Like, she can repel bullets strong. Superman must have given her some of that, if you catch my drift.

Brightest Day so far is good. Deadman is kind of boring, but whatever.  At least he’s better than Aquaman.

While I’m all for tacky and crazy houses, this is beyond anything I would ever do. I salute the guy for doing what he loves, but I hope he has one helluva security system.

Ode to the Wii Fit.

May 20, 2010

So I got a Wii and a Wii Fit for the children area where I work. I own a Wii at home, but I play by 360 more than anything else (plus I love Netflix). I had heard a lot of hype about the Wii Fit, that it will “replace” going to a gym, and all kinds of things. I’ve been playing Wii Fit for about a week now, and while I’ve noticed a slight decrease in my BMI, over all I still get a better workout at the gym.

That being said, this is great for people who are not active. This is still a step in the right direction. It gets you up and moving, and you are working out (although most of it is low impact) which is always good. Today on Wii Fit I burned 60 calories (and then in Zumba I burned about double of that). I’m not patting myself on the back, but for a lot of people who could be a big feat. I also like it because kids want to play it. There are so many cool and fun games for kids, they don’t tire of it. Getting kids in the habit of working out regularly will do wonders for them later down the line.

So, Nintendo Wii, I salute you!

Megan Fox dropped from Transformers 3: Fanboys everywhere cry.

May 19, 2010

http://www.popeater.com/2010/05/19/megan-fox-transformers-3/

I could honestly give a shit either way, but maybe now the movie will focus more on giant robots beating the shit out of each other. Fanboys everywhere are crying like babies though, since “the only good thing from the movie is gone!!” WOAH WOAH WOAH THERE. The movie is about giant robots fighting over Earth. If you’re going in for some fap material, please turn in your geek card now.  There’s no plot, only awesome CGI.

Also kids, let this be a valuable lesson: Do not bite the hand that feeds.
