Girls With Comics

By now you might have guessed: I love comic book show pilots. Especially if they suck or were never sold. Lil Abner, a comic book legend (in my mind at least) was going to get the television treatment as well in the 1960’s. It’s actually not half bad. The casting was pretty good (Jeannine Riley looks like Daisy Mae!), and since it was written by Al Capp–the creator of Lil Abner–it wasn’t half bad.

But, sadly nothing came of it. There have been stage adaptations of Lil Abner though. Here’s hoping there might be a Lil Abner revival in the near future.
